Here are the answers to some of the more common questions. We try to take the drama out of booking.
You will know doubt have your own list of questions that may not be answered below. Be sure to drop us a line (085-7379800) or an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with any question, especially if you have not taken part in a course like this before.
Do I need to bring bed linen?
No, all bed linen will be is provided. You do need to bring your towels and toiletries as these will not be provided.
What about food?
Breakfast, lunch and dinners will be served in the college’s dining room. Tea or Coffee will also be served in the mornings and afternoons. A small coffee room is open each evening where you can have tea, coffee, wine and snacks.
The nearest town is Stamullen, which has a large Centra supermarket and an ATM for any special requirements.
What should I wear?
Most of the courses include a warm-up routine, so you should bring loose, comfortable clothing for course work. If possible, bring some black clothing for performances – again, loose and comfortable is best.
At night many people take advantage of the facilities in the local pub, so it is worth packing for going out socialising and remember to bring a jacket – it can get cold late at night in Ireland.
For Fancy Dress night, the wackier the better! There is a different theme each year, so check out Social Programme page closer to the start of the week. Fancy Dress is optional – but it’s much more fun when you join in!
Do I need to bring books or texts?
You will be advised of all texts and books required for your course before your arrival in Gormanston, see the relevant course pages for updates. A selection of plays, scripts and theatre books will be available from our library in the college.
Are there any planned social activities?
Absolutely! On quiz night, all the courses compete against each other in a general (sort of) knowledge quiz to win the much coveted ‘Gormanston Ashes’. Rumours of extensive cheating are greatly exaggerated.
On Thursday, each course has an evening out with their tutor, usually to a local hotel, pub or in some case some classes will a party in a room in the college..
